Fast and Easy Indoor Composting
The future of fast and easy composting is here. Hooray! I have been composting for the past year and it’s easy for me, but I live in a house with a garden in mild Southern California. But what about those apartment city dwellers with indoor plants? The Naturemill Plus Edition composter (starting at $299) stands just under two-feet tall and can be placed into a kitchen cabinet. It composts just about everything including meat and dairy in two weeks, creating organic fertilizer any green thumb can be proud of.

Cook Green
Last year while recipe testing for my upcoming cookbook Anna Getty’s Easy Green Organic Kitchen (Chronicle Books, 2009) I fell in love with La Chamba cookware. These lead- and toxin-free clay pots, casseroles, pans, plates, and bowls are handmade of black clay in Central Columbia, and can be used in the oven, on the stove, and even in the microwave. The cookware has a beautiful organic feel and is perfect for going straight from the oven or stovetop to table.

Table Art
These beautiful multi-wood chopping boards are sturdy enough for chopping vegetables in the kitchen and elegant enough to use as a cheese plate at a cocktail party. Carlos Augusto Hernandez, the Costa Rican artisan who makes these unique boards, utilizes a combination of wood from recycled wood, fallen timber, and wood that is plantation grown and farmed for export. If you buy these chopping boards at
gxonlinestore.org a portion of the proceeds from sales will go towards reforestation programs in Costa Rica.
Entertain with a Cause
Riverside Designs, a leader in elegant post industrial/pre-consumer recycled glass tableware has partnered with various not-for-profits with their Plates with Purpose™ line, creating beautiful designs on plates inspired by the organization’s cause. For instance, fifteen percent of the proceeds from the sales of the Tree collection benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates, a non-profit network of volunteers who serve neglected and abused children.
