Eco Yoga

“Eco” and “yoga” seemlike no-brainer best buddies. But, until now, no one in Santa Monica had fused the two in the form of an eco yoga studio. Peter Sterios, architect and founder of Manduka yoga mats, has finally and flawlessly erected Trüyoga, an earth-conscious center within the Yahoo Center, just a few blocks from the beach. Trüyoga encompasses 2,100-square-feet of space, including a massive yoga studio, two massage rooms, a Pilates Reformer and Pilates mat space, shower and changing area, and a retail boutique. Expansive windows in the yoga room look out on a private park dotted with drought-resistant plants and a meditative reflecting pool.

The eco element comes from the recycled, repurposed, and sustainable building and decorating materials such as eco-resin panels on the walls and doors, sustainably harvested Brazilian  hardwood floors, and countertops made from pressed recycled newspaper pulp. Students are provided “green” yoga equipment during their practice, including Manduka eco-mats, cork blocks, and organic cotton straps. Practicing yoga at Trüyoga allows you to feel good about doing something healthy for both yourself and your environment. Now that’s something to “om” over.  www.TRYOGALA.com
