Model Beauty: Naturally

Beauty isn't just skin deep. Josie Maran, the flawless face of Maybelline for ten years and a regular magazine cover girl, is all too familiar with the ugliness that hides within many of our favorite beauty products. Wearing lots of makeup has always been a job requirement, but natural beauty has long been Maran's secret weapon.

The closet greenie has finally decided to do something to clean up the industry, crafting her own line of mostly organic, biodegradable products, free from the common chemicals polluting other makeup lines. Josie Maran Cosmetics are artificial fragrance, paraben, and petrochemical-free and never tested on animals. We caught up with Maran at the EcoStiletto.com launch party; a new website dedicated to green beauty and fashion, and got the inside scoop on her newly minted green beauty line. "I grew up in a very healthy and green family so I knew what was being put on my skin every day. I wanted to create something for myself that was healthy and good enough for a makeup artist, too."

To create her ideal makeup line that filled her beauty needs without the toxic chemicals, Maran collected all of her favorite products, then went to a lab and had them reformulated without the chemicals. She also packaged the final products in environmentally conscious, recyclable, and biodegradable containers made from corn and glass. The results? Luxury with a conscious.
