Spa Etiquette

Dear Tanya, I'm never sure how much clothing to take off for a spa treatment or massage, any advice?

Even long time spa-goers are sometimes stumped by the underwear question. The general rule of thumb is to undress to the level of your comfort, whatever that is. For wet body treatments like scrubs and wraps, it is best to remove everything. If you're really uncomfortable with the thought of being naked, most establishments have spa underwear available, so you don't have to worry about ruining your own. For massage, it's really up to you. Therapists are trained to drape for privacy, and are legally responsible for doing so. I advise most women to at least remove their bra, since the neck, shoulders, and back are areas where clients often need extra work. Men who wear boxers may want to tuck them up so the therapist can access the upper quad and hamstring areas. When in doubt, always ask. I guarantee you won't be the first!
