Very Funny

Laughter, it seems, might just be the best medicine, and evidence continues to accumulate supporting the health benefits of a sunny outlook. A cheerful disposition appears to positively affect general health, strengthen the immune system, and lower stress by supporting our innate coping systems. Within the medical community, laughter therapy is gaining respect for its ability to lower levels of anxiety, pain, and distress; for its ability to generate feelings of well-being in patients suffering from chronic pain.

It is also being utilized in disease management programs, including cancer patient care. While organized laughter clubs continue to spring up in cities around the world, you can treat yourself to an enjoyable mini-intensive at Montreal's annual Just For Laughs Festival, July 8-29. Featuring famous comedians, newly rising stars, and top international comedy acts in a variety of performance venues around the city, the festival is renowned for hilarious impromptu performances and general merrymaking. One of the highlights is a downtown street gala in the Quartier des Spectacles, a quadrilateral public area bordered by Sherbrooke, City Councillors, and Berri Streets.
